Allied Works Architecture is a finalist to design the new Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts (MCBA) and masterplan a new cultural center for future institutions.

Located in central Lausanne, the competitions calls for a new masterplan that will transform the city’s abandoned railyards into a vital cultural district. As part of the competition, Allied Works is to adapt the historic, 8.090 m2 Swiss Federal railway hall into a world-class exhibition space for the MCBA, which will serve as a gateway to the new arts district. The district will incorporate an additional 8,000 m2 of exhibition and gallery space for future institutions including the Musée de l'Élysée and Musée de design et d'arts appliqués contemporains (MUDAC).

The competition period will end in April 2011.
