After a months-long, multi-stage selection process, Allied Works was awarded one of 16 Worldwide Design Services contracts with the US State Department, Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO). The span of this Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract is five years, and may entail projects of all scales and complexity at any of the nearly 300 embassies, consulates and other properties that support US diplomatic personnel around the world.
The OBO received 136 total qualifications submissions for this cycle. Per the Bureau’s announcement, “The 16 selected firms presented the most highly qualified technical teams and demonstrated exemplary past performance, strong management and project delivery experience, a well-defined approach to public architecture, and a commitment to sustainability and integrated design.”
Allied Works’ selection follows on our design for a new, 360,000sf US Embassy Compound in Maputo, Mozambique. With construction underway, our teams will be traveling to Maputo in February to review progress, and will continue to provide Construction Administration services, both remotely and on site, through an expected completion date in 2019.
