Pratt Institute Selects Allied Works to Design New School Of Art

May 30, 2018

After a nationwide search, Allied Works was selected to design and realize a new building for Pratt Institute’s School of Art in Brooklyn, New York. Pratt is one of the top ranked institutions of higher education with academic schools of art, design, architecture, information, and liberal arts and sciences. For more than 130 years, Pratt has been an anchor of art and culture in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill neighborhood and beyond.

The building will house the School of Art’s Master of Fine Arts and Photography programs. The new building, which will provide a distinct School of Art destination and identity on campus for the first time, will include flexible space for classrooms, studios, tech labs, galleries, and programs that engage the public.

Following the selection, principal Brad Cloepfil noted: “Allied Works has a profound respect for Brooklyn and Pratt Institute; this respect for site and institutional mission informs our design process in every place we build and for the organizations that we serve. It is thrilling to have this opportunity to partner with Pratt to create a building that will catalyze both the campus and community.”

Work on the planning, programming and building design will commence in June of this year.
