In 2015, Allied Works met with restaurateur Will Guidara and Chef Daniel Humm to discuss a top-to-bottom redesign of their flagship restaurant in New York City, Eleven Madison Park. Starting with the historic space and the culinary vision, Brad Cloepfil and Allied Works’ designers have been at work developing overall spatial concepts, interior details, custom furnishings and tableware to create a complex, elegant, timeless and complete sensory experience.
This inspiration and concept behind the furniture suite begins with comfortable, classic lounge furniture made contemporary with elegant lines and curves, and subtle material contrasts. These are pieces in which to savor the passage of time. Generous banquettes originated with the feel of classic club sofas; chairs are contoured and given definition and distinction by two entwined frames in solid walnut. Tables are sturdy and simple in design and construction with just enough elevation to set the place for EMP’s refined cuisine. Within the room, a few elements—the credenzas and host stand—appear as ‘found pieces’ that invite curiosity and conversation.
