In recent weeks, teams from Turner Construction have begun the first phase of sitework and demolition to make way for Allied Works’ new 4,000 seat, 75,000 square foot Providence Park Stadium Expansion in Portland, Oregon.

Originally built in 1925 as Multnomah Stadium, and site of many significant events in the city’s history, Providence Park is currently the home of the MLS Portland Timbers and NWSL Portland Thorns Football Clubs, and is widely considered to be one of the true “Cathedrals of Soccer” in North America.

Parent company Peregrine Sports worked with Allied Works to study, design and develop plans to increase capacity from the current 21,144 seats to over 25,000, and provide dramatic new space for viewing, special events and social interaction. The expansion will run the entire east side of the stadium grounds, and provide three new tiers of seats, terraces and support spaces while maintaining views into the stadium from the neighboring 18th Avenue.

The first phase of below street level sitework and infrastructure improvements will continue through the winter and early spring of 2018, with the above-grade expansion slated for construction in the 2018-2019 offseason.
