In 2016, Allied Works met with restaurateur Will Guidara and Chef Daniel Humm to discuss a top-to-bottom redesign of their flagship restaurant in New York City, Eleven Madison Park. Starting with the space and the culinary vision, Brad Cloepfil and Allied Works’ designers have been hard at work developing overall spatial concepts, interior details, custom furnishings and tableware to create a complex, elegant, timeless and complete sensory experience.

Composed of raw porcelain and white glaze, the eighteen-piece dinnerware suite provides a simple yet refined complement to the cuisine. The outer surfaces of the pieces are left unglazed, softening the light and revealing their materiality. The various pieces relate dimensionally, sharing a similar formal composition and progressive sequence of profiles and radii. In order to create subtle tension and definition with the surface of the table, the pieces appear to hover by means of a small, concealed “foot”, a feature common to traditional ceramics. Other pieces, such as the teacup, are attuned to the body, offering a sense of warmth and welcome as the perfect finish to a meal.
