New York City non-profit Publicolor is dedicated to improving learning environments throughout the NYC public school system. In 2013 Allied Works was invited to participate in their premiere fundraising event of the year, an auction of housewares and custom decorative arts pieces by luminaries in the fields of fashion, art, architecture and design.

Allied Works design for a pair of 18”x18” cushions draws inspiration from the unique landscape of the Pacific Northwest. Dubbed the “Mazama” series, the striking, concentric pattern of raw fabric and hand-painted, erratic rings is a direct translation of the topographic contours of the major volcanoes of the Cascade Range, rendered at intervals of 250 meters in elevation. Structurally alike but each unique, the textiles speak to Allied Works deep interest and concern for the land, as well as the inspiration of abstract-expressionist and process based works of the latter 20th century and beyond.
